The master plan for the Metro Parks Tacoma Kandle Park and Pool, developed by SHKS in collaborative public workshops and steering committee meetings, includes a recreational aquatic facility—leisure pool, lap lanes, lazy river, spray pool, slide—and a public park with skate features, basketball courts, a community garden, play structures, and a community room. The scope of work also included the remediation of contaminated soils and the addition of plantings to re-green the neglected open space. The project creates a community oriented park within a vital residential neighborhood and aquatic facilities for a broader public.
