Maintaining the character of an institution for the future.
SHKS Architects has worked closely with the Pike Place Market Preservation Development Authority (PDA) and market tenants since 2009. To maintain the character of Seattleās most vibrant destination SHKS Architects redesigned over 30 individual tenant spaces to mitigate the impacts of seismic and infrastructure upgrades; surveyed 13 buildings in the Pike Place Market Historic District and prepared a 30-Year Capital Needs Assessment (CNA) Master Plan; surveyed, designed, and prepared construction documents and administered construction of window repair and restoration of the Fairley & Leland Buildings; administered a major systems upgrade at the Livingston and Baker Buildings. SHKS completed exterior improvements along the North Arcade for market merchants and vendor display improvements at the North End Wall. We have also provided a study of security upgrades and updated the 30-year CNA plan.
