Function and recreation combined in a unique structure.
The Mount Peak Fire Lookout Tower, located within King County’s Pinnacle Peak Park in Enumclaw, is the third tower to occupy its peak. The original tower was built in 1929 and was extended to a height of 60 feet in 1934. The replacement project was a community effort led by the Mount Peak Historical Lookout Association in collaboration with King County Parks. SHKS Architects worked with Lund Opsahl structural engineers to design the new tower, which was built by Pease & Sons Construction with fabrication by Yakima Steel. The project provides a modern fire lookout tower and a destination for recreational enthusiasts and parkgoers in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.
